TESTIMONIALS
In the past three years, the Newcastle Writers Festival has forged a strong partnership with the independent publisher, Spineless Wonders and our collaborations have become an integral part of our program. The #storybombing project plays an important role in terms of activating our communal spaces and engaging festival audiences with contemporary stories.
Under the dynamic leadership of publisher/producer Bronwyn Mehan, Spineless Wonders has provided creative programming that has helped increase our community engagement. The #storybombing project plays an important role in terms of activating our communal spaces and engaging festival audiences with contemporary stories. Richard Holt’s use of stenciling to display microlit – “pavement pages” – outside key venues is just one aspect of our collaboration that promotes the form. We have also incorporated video and StoryPhones in the festival and, as far as I am aware, there are few other publishers operating creatively across so many platforms.
Spineless Wonders may be a small publishing house but this does not in any way hamper the generation of big ideas or its commitment to innovation. As a relatively young regional festival, we look to organisations such Spineless Wonders for inspiration and support.
